Motion Detection gives community staff a library of short video clips recorded by kiosk cameras when movement is detected at an unstaffed gate. It is useful for reviewing what happened at an entrance — a vehicle that turned around, a visitor who left before completing entry, or activity outside normal hours. This guide is for community staff and admins; residents do not have access to camera features.
The Cameras section can also include Live, Analytics, LPR, and APM tabs if your community uses the Eagle Eye camera integration. Motion Detection is independent of that integration: it comes from your community's entry kiosks, so communities with motion-capable kiosks see the Cameras section and the Motion Detection tab even without Eagle Eye.
Clips are recorded automatically when the kiosk's camera detects motion at the gate. From the Motion Detection tab you can browse the clip list and play back individual clips to see the activity that triggered them.
Because clips are tied to a kiosk, each one is associated with a specific gate — if your community has several unstaffed gates, that tells you exactly which entrance the clip came from.
Motion Detection has its own permission, separate from the general camera permission. A staff member can be given access to motion clips without access to live feeds, or the other way around. If you cannot see the Motion Detection tab, ask your community admin to check your permissions.
Camera-related configuration lives under Settings in the Camera Settings tab, alongside your community's other hardware and gate settings. Kiosk-side behavior is part of your Unstaffed Gates setup — see Setting Up an Unstaffed Kiosk for pairing and gate configuration.
If clips are missing for a gate or playback fails, submit a ticket through the Contact Support form in the app so JEKA can check the kiosk hardware.
