How to Change Your Password

Update Password now asks for your current password and sets the new one in the app; no email is sent. The emailed reset link is for a forgotten password, from the sign-in page.

How to Change Your Password

You change your password from the Security section of your account. You need your current password. If you have forgotten it, use Forgot password? on the sign-in page instead — that is the flow that emails you a reset link.

On your phone

  • Step 1: Tap Account in the bottom navigation bar.
  • Step 2: Tap Security.
  • Step 3: In the Sign-In card, find the Password row. It reads "Change your password. You need your current password."
  • Step 4: Tap Update Password.

On your computer

  • Step 1: Click My Account at the bottom of the left-hand navigation sidebar.
  • Step 2: Select the Security tab.
  • Step 3: In the Sign-In card, click Update Password.

In the dialog

  • Step 1: Type your current password.
  • Step 2: Type your new password and save.
  • Step 3: You are signed out. Sign in again with the new password.

Forgot your password?

Sign out if you are signed in, then choose Forgot password? on the sign-in page and enter your email address. MyWatchtower emails you a link to set a new password. See *How to Reset Your Password*.

Tips for a good password

  • Use letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Make it at least 8 characters long
  • Don't use your name or birthday
  • Don't reuse the same password across sites

Tip: For more account safety, turn on Two-Factor Authentication in the same Security section — see How to Turn on Two-Factor Authentication.
