At communities with unstaffed gates, the entry kiosk's Directory lets a visitor look up the resident they're visiting and reach them directly — by a call or an entry request — so the resident can let them in from their phone. This guide explains the flow for visitors, and what community admins can expect their guests to see. Residents: for what the call looks like on your end, see *Answering a Gate Call from Your Phone*.
The kiosk's main screen shows each available entry method as a card — PIN entry, QR code, and Directory, depending on what the community has enabled. A small camera self-view with a REC indicator notes that recording is in progress. If the kiosk sits idle for 30 seconds, it returns to this screen.
Kiosks with voice support can walk you through the same search hands-free: speak the name when prompted and confirm the match, or switch to the keyboard at any time. Voice search listens through the kiosk's configured microphone and also matches common alternate spellings of a name, so a close-enough pronunciation still finds the right resident.
An opened directory result offers one or both actions:
If a property has no registered contacts, the kiosk suggests trying another entry method or asking for help.
Each end screen returns to the main screen automatically after a short countdown.
When the community has configured help, a Help pill appears on the kiosk's main screen. It first offers suggestions for common problems — a resident not answering, a code that won't work, a QR pass that won't scan — and if those don't resolve it, the visitor can place a help call. Communities on a help phone number have the kiosk dial that number directly; communities using Live Agent connect the visitor to a remote agent who can help process the entry. See [Live Assist and Live Agent](live-assist-and-live-agent).
Community admins can contact their JEKA representative about enabling Directory, voice search, or the kiosk help options for their access points.
