Answering a Gate Call from Your Phone
When a visitor at one of your community's entry kiosks looks up your name or property in the directory, MyWatchtower reaches you on your phone so you can decide whether to let them in. This article covers what to expect as a resident. For what the visitor sees at the gate, see *Kiosk Directory Calls*.
How the call reaches you
- The kiosk calls your property's contacts in the order set in the property's contact priority list — you can review and reorder that list on your Property page.
- On a mobile device, a kiosk call arrives as a native incoming call, so it rings like a regular call rather than a silent notification.
- If a video call can't be completed within about 60 seconds, the call falls back to a regular phone call.
Two ways a visitor can reach you
- A directory call — answer to speak with the visitor, then approve or deny the entry from the call.
- An entry request — instead of calling, the visitor can send a request with their name; you're notified on your phone and can approve or deny it. A request that gets no answer times out after about 60 seconds.
What happens after you decide
- If you approve, the kiosk shows the visitor an Access Granted verdict and the gate opens.
- If you deny, the visitor sees a denied verdict at the kiosk.
- If no one answers, the kiosk tells the visitor the resident is unavailable, and they can try another entry method or the kiosk's help option.
Either way, the entry attempt appears in your property's entry records.
