How to Configure Your Notification Settings in MyWatchtower

Notification settings are now one table of notification types by channel (push, email, in-app), with property notifications set per property; each change saves at once, and the three on/off switches are gone.

How to Configure Your Notification Settings in MyWatchtower

MyWatchtower keeps you informed about entries at your property, property requests, and news from your community by email, push, and in-app notification. Since September 2026 you choose these per notification type, not with one switch per channel. This article walks through the settings.

Step 1 – Open Notifications

  • Step 1: Sign in to MyWatchtower on the web or in the app.
  • Step 2: Open your account — My Account at the bottom of the sidebar on desktop, or the Account tab in the bottom navigation on mobile.
  • Step 3: Select Notifications.

Step 2 – Read the table

The screen is one table, Notification settings. Each row is a notification type; each column is a channel: Push, Email, and In-app. A checked box means that type reaches you on that channel.

  • The All notifications row at the top turns a whole channel on or off for every type on the screen.
  • Three category rows group the types: MyWatchtower (product updates, tips and surveys — these start off), Community (entry activity, announcements, and the other community-wide types), and Property (credential changes, property member changes, and property request updates). Select a category to open it and see its types.
  • A type you cannot turn off shows a lock instead of a checkbox, with the note *Required. This notification cannot be turned off.*
  • If you hold more than one property in the community, the Property section has a picker. Choose the property by its street address, then set the boxes for that property. With one property there is no picker.
  • The Daily incident digest row carries the categories the digest covers. Open the row to pick All categories or individual ones.

You see only the types that apply to you. There is no SMS column: MyWatchtower does not send notifications by text message.

Step 3 – Change a setting

Tick or clear a box. It saves at once — the row reads Saving… and then Saved. There is no Save button and nothing to discard. If a change cannot be saved, the box goes back to how it was and the screen says so: *We couldn't save that change. It has been put back.*

Device considerations for push

Push notifications rely on your phone. Make sure MyWatchtower is allowed to send notifications in your phone's settings (iOS or Android). If notifications are off at the device level, the boxes in the app have no effect until you allow them again.

From an email

Every notification email has two links at the bottom:

  • Update preferences opens a page with the same table, without signing in. A box you clear there is cleared for every property you hold.
  • Unsubscribe turns off email for your account after you confirm.

Both links work only for the address the email was sent to. An unsubscribe link from before mid-2026 no longer works; the page asks for your email address and sends you a new link.

Best practices

  • Keep your email address and phone number up to date in Personal Details.
  • For timely gate alerts, keep Entry activity on for push and allow notifications on your phone.
  • If you share responsibilities within a household, make sure each resident has their own account with notifications set the way they want.
