Managing Notifications

The Notifications section is now a table of notification types by channel, saved as you change it; the email footer's Update preferences link opens the same choices without signing in, and an unsubscribe link acts only on the account it was sent to.

Managing Notifications

The Notifications section of your account is where you choose how MyWatchtower reaches you. Since September 2026 it is one table: a row per notification type, a column per channel. This guide explains the options and the two links in every notification email.

Getting to Notifications

  • Step 1: Open your account — My Account at the bottom of the sidebar on desktop, or the Account tab in the bottom navigation on your phone.
  • Step 2: Select Notifications.

The table

  • Columns are the channels: Push (alerts on your phone through the app), Email, and In-app (the bell in the app). There is no SMS option.
  • Rows are notification types, grouped under MyWatchtower, Community, and Property. Select a category to open its rows. The All notifications row sets a channel for everything at once.
  • A lock in place of a box marks a type that cannot be turned off.
  • If you hold more than one property, the Property section shows a picker. Set the property rows for one property at a time.

For the full walk-through of each row, see *How to Configure Your Notification Settings in MyWatchtower*.

Changing a setting

Tick or clear a box. It saves at once (Saving…, then Saved). If it could not be saved, the box goes back and the screen tells you.

> INFO: Push notifications need the MyWatchtower app installed and allowed to send notifications in your device settings. On iPhone: Settings > MyWatchtower > Notifications. On Android: Settings > Apps > MyWatchtower > Notifications. If notifications are off at the device level, the boxes in the app have no effect.

The links in every email

At the bottom of every notification email:

  • Update preferences opens the notification table for your account, without signing in. Use it to get less email rather than none. A box you clear there applies to every property you hold; per-property choices stay in the app.
  • Unsubscribe opens a page with a Confirm Unsubscribe button. Email notifications for your account turn off when you press it, and not before.

Both links are tied to the address the email went to. Opening one while signed in as somebody else changes nothing for that other account. If a page says *This unsubscribe link is no longer valid*, enter your email address and MyWatchtower sends a fresh link.

To receive email again after unsubscribing, open Notifications in the app and tick the Email boxes you want.

Recommended settings

Keep Entry activity on for push, and keep email on for community announcements and property request updates, so you know when someone enters your property and when your community has news.
