Open a Gate from Mission Control
Sometimes you need to open the gate without recording a visitor first — an emergency vehicle, a stuck sensor, a resident whose remote failed. Mission Control's header includes a manual gate control for exactly that. (Approving an entry also opens the gate on its own — see *Record an Entry in Mission Control*.)
Before you start
The control operates whatever gate is chosen in the Access Point selector, so pick your gate first. It works the same whether the community's hardware runs on Brivo or HID.
On a desktop
- Step 1: With an access point selected, the Manual Gate Open button appears at the top right of the screen.
- Step 2: Select it. The button shows progress while the gate is being opened, and a confirmation message names the gate when it opens (for example, "Gate … opened successfully").
On a phone or tablet
- Step 1: Tap the unlock button next to the Access Point selector.
- Step 2: A confirmation dialog — Emergency Gate Access — explains that this immediately opens the selected gate. It is intended for emergency situations, emergency personnel and vehicles, and critical maintenance needs, and every manual gate activation is logged for record-keeping and audit purposes.
- Step 3: Tap Yes, Open Gate to proceed, or Cancel to back out.
When the control is unavailable
- No access point selected — the control is hidden or disabled until you choose a gate; trying without one prompts you to select an access point first.
- An open is already in progress — the button is disabled until the current open finishes.
- Offline Mode — Mission Control runs read-only while offline, so the gate cannot be operated from the app until you're back online. See *Using Offline Mode*.
- Hardware trouble — if the gate's controller is offline or unreachable, the open fails and the message explains why ("Failed to open gate: …"). Report persistent failures to your community admin, who can check the hardware status in Settings → Hardware.
Use it sparingly
Manual opens bypass the normal visitor record, and each one is logged. For routine arrivals, record the entry instead — approval opens the gate and keeps the entry log complete.
