Suspending is the reversible way to stop a credential working — the credential stays on file with its holder, but stops opening anything until you unsuspend it. Community staff do both from Access > Credentials. For the full credential lifecycle, see "Managing Access Credentials".
Suspend rather than delete when the stop may be temporary — a lost card that might turn up, a paused vendor arrangement, a resident dispute being sorted out. Deleting is permanent; see "Delete a Credential Safely" for that path.
1. Open Access > Credentials and find the credential (search, or use the filters). 2. Choose Suspend from the row's actions and confirm.
Suspending "will immediately revoke access at all access points."
On Brivo communities, when a holder carries multiple credentials, suspending one suspends all of that person's credentials. The confirmation dialog lists every credential that will be affected — read that list before you confirm. Unsuspending mirrors this in reverse.
On HID communities, no such all-of-holder behavior is described — the action applies to the credential you chose.
Choose Unsuspend from the suspended row's actions and confirm. Access is restored immediately. On Brivo, remember the mirror of the suspend-all behavior: unsuspending restores the holder's affected credentials as the confirmation dialog describes.
If Suspend or Unsuspend is missing for you, your role may not include the needed credentials permission — check with your community Admin, or submit a help desk ticket.
