When none of the default roles fits a job in your community, build your own. A role is a named collection of permission choices, and everyone you assign it to gets exactly those choices — per-user permission editing no longer exists, so a well-built role is how you give someone the right access.
If an existing role is already close to what you need, cloning it is usually faster — see "Clone a Role".
New roles join at the bottom of the role hierarchy. Position matters — a role's rank decides who can assign it and who can manage its holders — so move the role up afterwards if it belongs higher. See "Reorder the Role Hierarchy".
For the full picture of staff and property roles, defaults, and the hierarchy, see "Managing Roles and Permissions".
