Reorder the Role Hierarchy

Staff roles in MyWatchtower form a ranked list, and the order is not cosmetic — it is enforced everywhere roles appear.

Why order matters

• You can only assign or change roles below your own. Role pickers across the app disable anything at or above your tier.
• You can only manage users whose role sits below yours — someone holding a role at or above your own cannot be changed by you.
• A role's position therefore decides who can grant it and who can manage its holders. Keep the list meaningful: if a role sits too high, fewer admins can hand it out; too low, and people you didn't intend can manage its holders.

Steps

• Step 1: Go to Settings > Roles. The tab is visible only if your role can add and edit Users.
• Step 2: Reorder the staff list:
• On desktop, drag rows into position.
• On mobile, use the arrows on each row.

Locked rows

Rows at or above your own tier are locked — you can't move them, just as you can't assign or edit them. New roles join at the bottom of the list, so after creating or cloning a role, come back here to move it up if needed.

Property roles too

The property role hierarchy can be reordered the same way, with one fixed rule: Owner stays pinned at the top. See "Property Roles Explained".
