Groups, Schedules, and Access Levels

credentialscommunity-adminroles-permissions

This guide is for community staff and Admins who decide which doors open for whom, and when. Depending on your community's hardware provider you will see Groups (Brivo) or Access Levels (HID) in the Access section, alongside Schedules (both providers).

Groups (Brivo)

Access > Groups ("Organize users and access points into groups") lists your community's groups — a group holds people and pairs them with the access points they can open. Open a group to manage it in two panels: Users (the group's members) and Access Points (each door the group can open, paired with the schedule that applies). For the create steps and panel mechanics, see Create a Brivo Group.

Schedules

Access > Schedules ("Create and manage time-based access schedules") is one consolidated list for both providers. Rows marked System are provider-managed built-ins and cannot be edited or deleted. For the create dialog — presets, day blocks, and validation — and the detail-page timeline, see Create an Access Schedule.

Access Levels (HID)

Access > Access Levels ("Organize credentials and access points into access levels") works like Groups with one key difference: a Brivo group holds people, while an HID access level is held by individual credentials. For the create flow and the level's Credentials and Access Points panels, see Create an HID Access Level.

Pushes to Panels Are Automatic

You never push changes to your hardware yourself. When you change a schedule, access level, or grant, MyWatchtower queues the update and delivers it to the controllers automatically — there is no manual push button on these screens. Recent changes may take a short while to land on the panels while the queue works through them.

Deleting — and the In-Use Refusal

Deleting a schedule is permanent, and on HID it "is also removed from every controller it is pushed to." If access levels (HID) or groups (Brivo) still use the schedule, the deletion is refused until you detach it everywhere — for the full dialog behavior, see Create an Access Schedule.

Deleting an access level shows its own impact check before you confirm, telling you who actually loses access — for the full treatment, see Create an HID Access Level.

Groups and access levels have their own delete confirmations, reached from the bin icon on their list rows.

Need Help?

If a tab described here is missing, your community may use the other hardware provider, or your role may lack the needed permission — ask your community Admin, or submit a help desk ticket.
