Horizon by JEKA is a modern community engagement platform that brings everything a homeowners' association (HOA) or residential community needs into one unified website. Instead of juggling multiple tools to host a website, manage a membership roster, share documents and coordinate events, administrators use Horizon's integrated modules to keep residents informed and connected.
What Horizon Provides
- Accounts and community access: Residents join their community's site with an invite code, then register with an email address and password or a social sign-on provider. Members sign in to reach member content, reset or change their password, and manage their account from the profile area. Administrators can set, change, or remove the community's invite code.
- Custom website pages: A page editor lets administrators build and maintain the community's public pages without web development expertise. Each page has a title, a URL slug and editable content; pages can be toggled between public and hidden (individually or in bulk) so content can be staged before release. This is how communities publish amenity information, committee pages, rules, and other reference content.
- News and announcements: The News & Updates module acts as a simple blogging system. Administrators publish announcements, meeting summaries or community updates; posts can be edited, filtered, marked public or private, and removed at any time.
- Event calendar: Residents view the community's shared event calendar, and administrators create, edit and remove events — keeping meetings, social gatherings and deadlines in one place.
- Document library: A central repository for governing documents, budgets, meeting minutes and forms. Files are organized into folders (including nested subfolders); administrators upload documents, create and rename folders, remove outdated files, and control whether individual documents and folders are publicly visible.
- Newsletter: For communities that enable it, Horizon includes a built-in newsletter. Residents subscribe with a double opt-in confirmation and can unsubscribe or re-subscribe at any time; administrators compose the content, attach files, send to confirmed subscribers, and review a send history with recipient counts.
- Contacts and contact form: A contact directory lists the community's key people — such as board members and staff, with name, position, seat and term — and a contact form lets residents send a message to the community's configured email address.
- AI assistant: Community sites can include an AI assistant that answers questions about the community, available from a chat page and an embedded chat widget. If the assistant is not configured for a community, the chat page simply shows that chat is not available.
- Community settings and branding: Community details (name, contact email, description, phone), the physical address, a site banner message, and the community image or logo are all editable from a single settings area.
- Menu editor: Administrators customize the site's navigation menu structure so the pages and features residents need are easy to find.
- User management, roles and permissions: A roster of everyone with access to the portal. Administrators can create accounts, assign or change roles, and remove users. Admin, Editor and Resident roles are provided by default, and custom roles can be created with granular per-module permissions to tailor access for board members, committee chairs or volunteers.
- Community Admin Center: All of the administrative tools above are reached from one hub — a dashboard of cards, each shown according to the signed-in administrator's permissions. See the Community Admin Center article for a tour.
Benefits of Using Horizon
- Efficiency: By consolidating website pages, document management, calendars, newsletters and user administration into a single portal, Horizon reduces the overhead of managing separate systems.
- Consistency: All modules share a unified design and permission model, so information looks professional and is only visible to the appropriate audience.
- Accessibility: Residents can view public pages, calendar events and documents from any device. Administrators sign in to the Community Admin Center to update content and manage users through a browser.
- Scalability: Horizon is designed to serve both small neighborhoods and larger communities. Roles, permissions and the invite code let administrators scale access as needs evolve.
