Warning: When you delete your account, you cannot undo it. You lose access to each property and each community at once.
You can delete your own account in the app or on the website. This article is for each person who has a MyWatchtower account. You do not need a permission to delete your own account.
Before you delete your account
- If you are the Owner or the Manager of a property, make sure that another person can manage the property first. Speak to your community office if you need help.
- If you want to use MyWatchtower again later, you must create a new account. Your community office must then approve your access again.
Open the Account Deletion card
- On a phone, tap Account in the bottom navigation bar. In the Account settings list, tap Security.
- On a computer, select My Account at the bottom of the left navigation. Then select the Security tab.
Scroll to the Account Deletion card. It reads "Deleting your account will permanently remove your account and all associated data."
Delete your account
1. In the Account Deletion card, select Delete Account. The Delete Account dialog opens. It shows the email address of your account.
2. Read the warning in red. It tells you that MyWatchtower signs you out at once, and that you lose access to all properties and communities.
3. In the Email Address field, type the email address of your account. Uppercase and lowercase letters do not matter. If the address does not match, the field shows "Please type your email address to proceed."
4. Select Delete Account. The button is available only when the address matches. To keep your account, select Cancel.
This message shows: "Account deleted successfully. You'll be signed out." MyWatchtower then signs you out on each device.
If the dialog stays open after you select Delete Account, MyWatchtower did not delete your account. Try again later.
What MyWatchtower removes
When you delete your account, MyWatchtower:
- Removes your access credentials at each community.
- Removes your roles at each property and each community.
- Removes your open requests for access to a property.
- Turns off your email, text message and push notifications.
- Deletes your sign-in account. You cannot sign in again.
MyWatchtower then sends an email with the subject "Account Deletion Confirmation - MyWatchtower" to your address. The email says that the deletion of your personal information can take up to 30 days in the production system. After that, it can take up to 180 days more to reach all backups.
What we keep
We delete your data unless we must keep some of it for legal requirements, court cases or other legal reasons. We keep only a small quantity of such data. We store it safely, keep it only for the time that the law requires, and use it only for legal compliance.
If you cannot use the button
If you cannot sign in, or the dialog does not complete, send an email to compliance@mywatchtower.app with the subject "Account Deletion Request". In the email, give your full name and the email address of your account. Say clearly that you want to delete your account. We answer within 3 business days. We send you a confirmation when the deletion is complete.
